Groupe Bull SA chose to cut itself off from the outside world for the launch of its new range of Unix machines yesterday by holding the event in Budapest, but details eventually filtered through. A workhorse DPX/2 360 built around the 25MHz Motorola 68040 comes in versions with up to four processors to deliver 59 MIPS: a single processor model with 64Mb, 2Gb disk, 150Mb tape and 64 prots is $115,000 to $135,000 from September. The DPX/2 500 at the top end uses the ECL R6000 RISC from MIPS Computer Systems Inc, claimed to deliver 62 MIPS, 9.3 MFLOPS, 109,000 Dhrystones and ships in December. Prices from $170,000 to $700,000. At the bottom, Bull added the 80386SX-based DPX/2 100 from Zenith Data Systems, which supports up to eight users at from $7,000.
