As part of the partnership Bull will also manufacture a special Datallegro appliance called Data Warehouse Parallel Server (DWPS) that is built on its NovaScale servers and EMC storage. The appliance will be distributed exclusively in Europe and supported by Bull and Datallegro.
Bull will target DWPS at medium sized firms that are squaring up to the demand of escalating volumes of data that is starting to crack their current business intelligence infrastructure. Like Datallegro’s core v3 appliance architecture, DWPS benefits from a similarly attractive price-performance ratio for cheap and easy deploying terabyte-class data warehousing.
The appliance agreement is part of Bull’s 7i open initiative that helps companies to connect their information systems with one another to drive business value.
Bull is a European IT firm with legacy roots in the mainframe world. But its distribution today network covers over 60 countries worldwide, through which the company channels its broader application infrastructure and IT security products and services.
