Sources inside Compagnie des Machines Bull SA are apparently concerned about delays to the mutiprocessing implementation of AIX needed for the IBM Corp-Bull Pegasus symmetric multiprocessing box. Multi-threading is not due till later this year, but the boxes are promised for the third quarter. Meanwhile, Bull has formed a 20-person worldwide OEM Sales Division inside its Unix Systems Group to market Power and PowerPC-based systems to large OEM customers. It starts with the re-badged RS/6000s and will eventually get the Pegasus symmetric multiprocessing box running Unix and Windows NT. Of the 20 staff, 12 are based in Billerica, Massachusetts, at Bull HN Information Systems headquarters, making it clear that the US is the main initial target: it is headed by Roland Clarke formerly a marketing executive in the Unix unit – reporting to Stephane Davidier at Bull headquarters in Paris.
