Bull SA yesterday aligned itself firmly alongside IBM and Micro Channel Architecture, and took a sideswipe at the Extended Industry Standard Architecture bus. The company, which has designed its own Micro Channel-compatible chip set and licensed the design to the G2 subsidiary of LSI Logic Corp, describes the Micro Channel as a technical and industrial advance several years ahead of the emerging EISA bus standard. The company is hedging its bets, however, announcing three Micro Channel Micral models and two more Micrals that use the EISA bus. The company also announced a new Questar 460i using a 25MHz 80386 and availability of Convergent’s CT0S-E 2.3 operating system release on all Questar 400 models.
