Bull introduces new supercomputer suite

bullx supercomputer suite 4 now supports SUSE Linux enterprise server

Extreme computing firm Bull has released a new bullx supercomputer suite 4 (bullx scs 4) on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2.

The new release is a modular, integrated and open suite of products dedicated to managing supercomputers, HPC applications running on the supercomputers as well as their data.

Bull customers are now provided with the flexiblity to choose from a wide variety of Linux distributions, the company said.

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2 will allow customers to access Linux kernel version 3.0, support of btrfs (B-Tree file system), and integrate Linux Containers (LXC) that bring significant performance increase to HPC applications.

SUSE Alliance Relations and OEM director Mark Longwell said SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is the operating system of choice for high performance computing because of its scalability and performance capabilities.

"With this new offering Bull is accommodating the increasing demand for SUSE Linux Enterprise on Bull’s Extreme Computing solutions. Together, we are strengthening the performance and stability as well as the ease of use of these market-leading solutions," said Longwell.
