BULGARIAN TELECOM PRIVATIZATION ON TRACK FOR MID-1998

By CBR Staff Writer

The privatization of the Bulgarian Telecommunications Co will be completed by the middle of 1998, and will be accomplished by selling a large holding in the company to a strategic private investor, rather than through a public offering, according to the adviser Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. DMG was confirmed as the adviser despite the World Bank, which pays for the advisers, opposing it on the ground that DMG’s fees were too high.
