Dutch information technology company, Rijnhaave Groep NV has changed its name to Syntegra following the acquisition of the Dutch company from British Telecommunications PLC’s Syntegra systems integration unit in April last year (CI No 2,896). Syntegra, based in Fleet, Hampshire, operates as a prime contractor worldwide in areas including information technology, financial services, logistics, government and communication. At the time of the acquisition, Rijnhaave had 800 employees; a figure which has since increased to 1,000, and reported annual revenue of 70m British pounds. The decision not to change Rijnhaave’s name at the time enabled Syntegra to inform its new Dutch customers of the changes and the consequences involved; a vast media advertising campaign was launched in Holland to that end. The name Syntegra, formally BT Customer Systems, was carefully chosen and researched over the period of a year to ensure that it had a globally acceptable pronunciation and non- offensive meaning. In December 1995 Syntegra acquired French company Europe Informatique (CI No 2,814), and hopes the two together will help it in its bid to operate more effectively on a global basis.
