The UK’s Halifax Building Society has signed British Telecommunications Plc to provide it with a new Asynchronous Transfer Mode multimedia telecommunications network costing 130m British pounds, about $200m under a five-year contract. The new service is to be introduced into the society’s network of around 1,000 branches across the UK over the next six months and into its 650 estate agency offices later on next year.
