BT has signed a five-year €13.6m managed services contract with PaperlinX Europe, a distributor of paper, sign and display products and packaging materials in Europe, covering networked IT services providing an IP network that connects the PaperlinX’s 22 branch offices, spread across 16 countries.

The agreement builds upon their existing relationship, which dates back to 2005. The contract encompasses a range of services including a MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) based wide area network, LAN (local area network) management for the various branch offices, internet access, fixed and mobile voice offerings and security services.

BT said that the contract will enable PaperlinX’s employees to access corporate data and applications remotely through its MobileXpress access service.

Jeroen de Swart, CFO of PaperlinX Europe: “We were looking for a partner capable of consolidating our communications infrastructure to create a platform to connect our people, operating companies, customers and suppliers. Taking into account BT’s expertise in communication solutions, our existing relationship and the solution they designed, we are convinced that BT is the ideal partner to support our growth strategy.”

Luis Alvarez, president BT Global Services Enterprises, said: “PaperlinX has trusted us once more with this pan-European contract. Outsourcing its communications infrastructure to BT will enable the organisation to significantly reduce cost, focus on its core business while improving the collaboration between its people, businesses, customers and suppliers.”
