British Telecommunications Plc says it is in talks with the Office of Telecommunications on means to recoup unexpected losses from its revamped directory inquiries unit, the effect of which had been expected to be neutral on group revenues; instead, the business, which now imposes charges, lost UKP90m in fiscal 1992; the company wants to claw back the loss by persuading Oftel to relax the new price cap.
