Readers of the Times newspaper, that guardian of British good taste, are still debating the way to speak to a British Telecommunications computer which gives access to voice mail. After one reader complained (CI No 3,334) that it did not understand a polite Yes please, another how found a foolproof way to communicate: he responds with a Yeah and it works every time.
