British Telecommunications Plc’s video-on-demand experiment delivered down ordinary telephone lines could be extended with a 500m British pounds investment next year, the Financial Times reported. The trial began last July in 5,000 homes in Essex, UK, and has won adherents for films, soap operas in advance of broadcast and home shopping via television. So far the results are very exciting – they are well up to expectations, Rupert Gavin, Telecom’s director of multimedia services told the paper.
