The government is missing no opportunity these days to court popularity, but few will object to the decision by the Department of the Environment that the vandals at British Telecommunications Plc should remove the green eyesore panels that designate a phone card phone from the handful of traditional red telephone boxes that as listed structures must be maintained in their original appearance.
