It’s all change for London telephone numbers from next year: British Telecommunications Plc is expected to announce today that the 01- prefix for all of London will be replaced by 071- for the inner zone and 081- for the outer zone – and there’s no relief to be had by switching to Mercury Communications Ltd – the company says it will have to adopt the same system, being brought in because Telecom is fast running out of 01- numbers, for its own customers in London as well.
