BT SPLITS 0898 NUMBER

British Telecommunications Plc has moved to end the confusion which dogs people ringing up for cricket scores and ending up listening to naughty Linda’s lingerie line: from early December the current premium rate 0898 number will be split into two general interest and family entertainment services will be moved to numbers beginning with the 0891 prefix while 0898 will continue to be the number used for more, ahem, adult services strange that it’s the respectable services that have to go to the expense of advertising the change of code while the knicker lines have no such burden; it says the switch will enable selective call barring, as well as itemised bill monitoring by spouses.
