BT sets up JV for India managed services

BT Global Services has applied for telecommunications licenses in India so it can offer managed services there through a new joint venture.

By CBR Staff Writer

BT has teamed up with Jubilant Enpro Pvt Ltd, a New-Delhi-based company which operates across the oil and gas, food, and services markets, to create BT Telecom India Pvt Ltd. The company, of which BT will own 74%, will begin by providing virtual private network-based services to corporate customers which have sites in India. BT currently provides its customers with connectivity to India through a local licensed operator.

The venture is part of BT’s ambitious plans in India, where it plans to increase its headcount by 6,000 over the next two years, and generate $250m in revenues by 2009.
