British Telecommunications Plc has provided details of the final Release ’92 voluntary redundancy scheme: 4,400 management people are to, 1,400 more than the original requirement; 12,200 engineering and technical staff, up from the expected 9,000, 5,700 operators as opposed to the 4,000 predicted and 4,300 clerical staff rather than the 2,000 figure forecast originally; 2,400 ancillary employees are also to depart, 400 more than anticipated; it all adds up to 29,000.
