British Telecommunications Plc is to split its internal structure into 40 to 50 separate business units according to the Independent newspaper. The company is said to be planning to introduce a full-scale internal market so that each division will act as a stand-alone business with its own profit and loss account and the right to farm out some of their operations to service companies.
