BT next generation TV creeps closer to launch

UK communications giant BT has released more information on the much anticipated next generation TV service it is promising to launch later this year.

Known as ‘BT Vision’, the service will combine digital terrestrial TV with on-demand film, TV and music programming, as well as interactive services.

BT also confirmed that it has secured content deals for the new service with leading TV production companies such as Endemol and the Cartoon Network who will develop interactive content for BT Vision. BT says it will unveil further big name deals throughout the year as it builds towards its launch.

Customers can expect to be able to choose from a wide range of on-demand film, music and television programming as well as a groundbreaking interactive and communications service, all available through their TV sets.

Dan Marks, chief executive of TV Services, said, Our choice of the name BT Vision encapsulates the qualities needed to make this offering successful and underpins how important our next generation TV will be in the converged world.
