British Telecommunications Plc yesterday opened national telecommunications service for companies in the Lyon region of France. The new system, called Pleiade, is an alternative to the public service offered by France Telecom for the long-distance calls within France and is in addition to the international services already offered. British Telecom says it will launch Pleiade before the end of the year in Lille, in Marseille and Paris.
