British Telecommunications Plc has started telling its staff about the redundancy schemes that they will be invited to join: dubbed Release ’92, the scheme includes some rather attractive payments – the sooner they leave the more attractive – and the chance to join part time specialist IBM UK Ltd spin-out company Skillbase Ltd; managers received a letter this week detailing options; meanwhile there are rumours of one canny employee that took advantage of the last generous redundancy package offered and immediately applied, and got, another job – also within British Telecom!
