British Telecommunications Plc, and AT&T Co in alliance with Unisource BV have beaten France Telecom, the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, Cable & Wireless Plc, Sprint Corp and Telstra Ltd to the initial contracts under that plan by a consortium of 18 multinationals to cut their telecommunications costs by sharing a private network (CI No 2,318), the Financial Times hears.
