British Telecom, and the Geisco INS joint venture with ICL, have been shortlisted for a contract with the worldwide chemicals industry trade association, called CEFIC, to set up a pilot network service for electronic data interchange, for which IBM UK is now out of the running: CEFIC originally aimed to set up a pilot service last month to link trading clusters for the chemicals industry; Geisco-INS is bidding its X25-based network, Telecom is pushing its X400 service.
