The service would provide high-speed network access, aimed initially at business customers. The stations should be found in public sites such as airports, stations, cafes and motorway services. Talks have already taken place with Welcome Break and Costa Coffee.

BT will collaborate with Motorola and Cisco Systems to put the service in place. Customers will be able to gain access to the network via their LAN compatible mobile or laptop. The speed of the network will be some three times faster than 3G, with a transfer rate of 2Mbps.
