BT, a UK based communications offerings and services provider, has opened its New Delhi Technology showcase facility as part of its ongoing investment plan in Asia Pacific.

The new facility is aimed at delivering enhanced service delivery capabilities to help multinational companies succeed in their business opportunities in India and the rest of the region, and help Indian corporations operate in other parts of the world.

BT said it is creating more than 60 new critical roles in India as part of the previously announced Asia Pacific expansion plan, which will cover sales enablement, delivery and implementation of services for customers.

BT Global Services Asia Pacific President Kevin Taylor said India is a critical component to BT’s success and vision and is a key location to a large number of global companies.

"Many of our customers are expanding into India and we are investing to extend our communications infrastructure and services to support their growth," Taylor said.

"We have a long history of investment, a strong customer base and an excellent product and solution offering in this country, the latest example of which may be seen in the New Delhi showcase, bringing to life the opportunities offered by a networked, converged world."

The new facility opening follows the launch of BT Showcases in Hong Kong in September 2010, Beijing in November 2010, Sydney in January 2011 and Singapore in March 2011. These showcases are networked with BT’s showcase centres in London and New York.

With latest video conferencing equipment and networked IT applications, the facility will enable customers to interact directly with technologies and services such as wide area network optimisation, next generation contact centres, unified communications and IP telephony.

BT revealed its strategic investment plan in May 2010 to strengthen its business in the Asia Pacific region, and is recruiting up to 300 additional people in the key customer markets of Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore.
