Satellite broadcaster BSkyB Plc is worried at the way cable companies are able to woo customers with cheap telephone service, and it is retaliating by doing a deal with British Telecommunications Plc under which it is able to offer discounts on some phone services: the deal offers UKP6 a year off one UKP24 annual discount service and UKP4 a year off a scheme that normally costs UKP16, enabling the two to provide a real advantage for those wanting television and telephony.
