San Diego, California-based communications and graphics chipmaker Brooktree Corp warns that it expects operating results for its first quarter to December 25 of $0.08 to $0.12 a share, below analysts current estimates of $0.19 to $0.20 a share and the $0.17 a share it did a year ago; it says that the reasons for the shortfall in earnings are a rescheduling in the quarter of communications-products orders by several of Brooktree’s customers, and the failure of some expected orders to come through as anticipated – these orders have been rescheduled and are expected to ship in the second quarter and in subsequent quarters.
