San Diego-based Brooktree Corp said it has reached agreement with Advanced Micro Devices Inc to settle out of court one of several lawsuits pending between the two companies: the suit that was settled was filed by Advanced Micro on April 15, 1991 and concerned an AMD patent covering a process used in the manufacture of integrated circuits; as part of the settlement, AMD dismissed the lawsuit, but the settlement does not affect other pending litigation between the two – a jury award of $25.8m in damages to Brooktree related to colour palettes is currently under appeal by Advanced Micro and will not be affected by the present settlement.
