German e-banking and e-commerce software developer Brokat AG said yesterday that the loss of 11 employees, seven from its Leipzig office and four from London, was not a critical development for the company. We are a total of 495 people and we’re losing 11, a spokesperson commented.
The company was reacting to German press reports suggesting that the loss of developers and sales people inherited from smaller rival MeTechnology Europe GmbH, merged into Stuttgart-based Brokat in March (CI No 3,623), would represent a serious loss of technical expertise and jeopardize the company financially.
The spokesperson admitted that the people leaving Brokat were from the MeTechnology side of the business, including the London-based employees, but said their exit was a natural result of the merger, adding that they will not be replaced.
