Led by vice president and general manager Scott Geddes, the Atlanta, Ga.-based organization is dedicated to achieving market leadership by providing software that enables payment processors, credit card issuers, mobile service providers, and large retailers to offer secure, transactional mobile services. The unit will drive all business development, including sales, services, and partnering to ensure successful deployment of mobile services based on Brokat PaymentWorks to customers in the Americas.

Brokat’s aim is to build on the established success of its m-business software in Europe. Brokat PaymentWorks, selected by industry research firm Celent Communications as number one in the mobile payment software category, has been chosen by T-Motion (a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom) and by Vodafone, the largest wireless services provider in the world, to provide mobile payment services to their millions of end-users.

The ability to purchase electronic goods, such as ring tone or MP3s, is supported by Brokat PaymentWorks, but its ability to provide payment capabilities in the real world is what truly opens up the potential for mobile commerce, said Geddes. The traditional barriers to wholesale adoption of mobile wallet technology as a ubiquitous payment instrument has, to date, been limited by technological issues. Our PaymentWorks Mobile product provides the ability to make that quantum leap without the need for large scale hardware upgrades at point of sale or with current mobile phones.

We intend to leverage our significant experience and proven success in the financial applications and secure mobile transactions arena by devoting specific resource to growing our payment and security software and other components of our M-Business Platform throughout the Americas, said Geddes. Mobile payments will extend revenue opportunities for those companies that make up the mobile ecosystem including payment processors, credit card issuers and wireless operators. We believe that this will be a huge market, and we want PaymentWorks to be a leading part of the mobile equation across this region.

Brokat PaymentWorks provides secure and easy-to-implement payment systems which form the basis for most electronic and mobile services. The product is designed to support millions of users and large volumes of transactions. Brokat PaymentWorks also provides cross-channel authentication and authorization services. The product handles the complexity of evolving mobile technologies while providing standardized access to mobile signature functionality.
