Novato, California consumer software specialist Broderbund Software Inc has definitive agreement to buy The Learning Co Inc for about $440m in shares; Learning, which develops educational personal computer software will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Broderbund. On completion, current Learning Co shareholders will own about 23% of the equity of the enlarged company; the two have combined annual sales of around $230m.
