Launched two years ago, SAN Health delivers its results as Visio diagrams and Xcel spreadsheets, and has 10,000 regular users according to Brocade
Brocade say it knows that there are this many users because it hosts the software that generates the reports from the data collected by SAN Health. The free tool acts as a market research aid for Brocade, allowing mass observation of how its customers are configuring their SANs.
The updates to the tool include a free SAN Health Professional which provides GUI-based granular searching, filtering and analysis, comparisons, change analysis and custom report generation.
The private, paying extensions to the health service comes in the form of a fee-based software module, and a subscription-based professional service. The fee-based module is a change analysis tool that will compare SAN Health reports created at different times and highlight the differences and costs $1,799 per year to use.
The professional service involves a review of a customers’ set-up by a Brocade consultant, who will examine data gained from of course SAN Health, and will not actually visit customer site.
$2,396 will buy a year’s worth of quarterly one-hour reviews, which is just under $600 per review.
How much homework and analysis of each customers’ configurations will Brocade’s staff do before each consultation? There’ll be satisfactory preparation, the company said.
