Brocade introduces enterprise networking offerings

Include ICX 6610 Switch and revamped FastIron SX Series

By CBR Staff Writer

Brocade has introduced new enterprise networking offerings that the company says help organisations adapt to demanding new applications and ever-changing business requirements.

The new offerings include the Brocade ICX 6610 Switch; and enhancements for the Brocade FastIron SX Series of chassis-based aggregation and core switches.

The Brocade ICX 6610 Switch is a high-performance Ethernet access switch that combines chassis-like reliability and performance with the flexibility and affordability of a stackable switch.

The company said the new switch provides 8×10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) uplink ports, and offers a 35% improvement in total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to competitive offerings as well as a longer functional product life.

The enhanced Brocade FastIron SX Series of chassis-based aggregation and core switches feature new high-density 8×10 GbE blades, enabling the FastIron SX to scale up to 128 ports of 10 GbE.

The company claims that the FastIron SX is ideal for today’s business-critical campus LAN environments as it features hitless failover to provide the highest levels of availability.

The FastIron SX also features multi-chassis trunking for active-active resiliency that delivers twice the bandwidth of traditional active-passive redundant designs, and includes MACsec and energy efficient Ethernet ready hardware for investment protection.
