Broadcom has introduced DOCSIS VoIP product portfolio to support the convergence of voice, video and data services in China.
The company said that its DOCSIS VoIP technology will help cable operators in China to deploy voice over cable services. The STB and cable modem offerings for China support DOCSIS 2.0/3.0 embedded multimedia terminal adapters (eMTAs), Wi-Fi gateways and cable STB platforms.
According to Broadcom, the cable STB offerings include the Broadcom BCM7019 and BCM7025 that offer integration and performance enabling Chinese service providers to offer VoIP and HD STB applications to their subscribers. Both the BCM7019 and BCM7025 are designed in a deep sub-micron CMOS process to offer integration and performance.
The BCM7025 includes an integrated MoCA 1.1 modem, host and DOCSIS CPU performance, 3D graphics, dual integrated 866MHz DVB-C cable tuners, QAM demodulators, and integrated Euro/DOCSIS 2.0 VoIP compatible modems with 3.0 channel bonding over 4 downstream channels.
The BCM3379 offers the same capabilities as the BCM3378 with the addition of a PCI Express interface for connection to a wireless networking solution. For DOCSIS 3.0, the single chip Broadcom BCM3382E supports basic eMTAs and integrates a wide-band tuner, 8 downstream QAM demodulators, 4 upstream modulators with power amplifiers, a DOCSIS 2.0/3.0 MAC, a 300MHz CPU with DSP commands and analog voice interface.
