Broadcom claims Qualcomm’s current and next-generation cellular baseband and radio frequency product lines infringe on 10 Broadcom patents.
In two lawsuits filed in a California court, Broadcom seeks to claim an unspecified amount in damages from Qualcomm and to halt the production of Qualcomm’s products relating to its patent claims.
Qualcomm’s enhanced and convergence platform chips and its Qchat VoIP technology for mobile phones allegedly infringe on Broadcom patents, according to Broadcom.
Broadcom also filed a suit with the US International Trade Commission seeking to ban Qualcomm from importing products that allegedly infringe on five Broadcom patents.
Broadcom said it expects the ITC investigation would commence in late June and that the case will be tried early next year.
