British Telecommunications Plc yesterday confirmed that it is going ahead with its trial of a video on demand service over telephone lines with some 2,500 homes in eastern England reportedly to receive the service next year. British Telecom also confirmed a report in the Financial Times that it is cutting the charges it makes for the electronic fraud checks made by retailers on bank and credit card transactions but declined to comment on the cost of doing so. The paper said that it intended to cut rates by half.
