BRITISH TELECOM TO CHOOSE NEW NAME

Demonstrating that it does have a heart, British Telecommunications Plc was so pleased with the efforts of Daily Telegraph readers to suggest new names for the company that it awarded the winner, who came up with the name Communitec – which Telecom says it rather likes – a cordless telephone, and dispatched a bottle of champagne to the runner up for Teleconnect – but it was back to form when the paper’s City Diary innocently asked what it does intend to call itself in the future – There is a review going on, but it is far too early to speculate: now that sounds far more like the good old British Telecom we all…
