BRITISH TELECOM ANNOUNCES MORE EXCHANGES

With the replacement of its last remaining electro-mechanical exchange – in Thurso, Scotland – with a digital system, British Telecommunications Plc is proudly announcing that the UK is the first major country in the world with an entirely digital telecommunications network: meanwhile, British Telecom says its modernisation of the local network is continuing at the rate of two digital exchanges a day.
