British Telecommunications Plc, Tele Danmark A/S and Telenor A/S yesterday formally launched their Telenordia AB equally-owned joint venture to challenge Telia AB in the Swedish market. The aim is to become the leading alternative telecommunications operator in Sweden and the company will invest nearly $300m by the end of the decade, with about half that going on switches and network capacity. It expects to hire 100 people this year, and will initially target large volume generators of national and international traffic, and anyone wanting more advanced services.
