British Telecommunications Plc has enlarged its TNet LAN Internetworking range with the TNet IN 2010, bridge-router for connecting Ethernet local area networks across point-to-point links such as managed X25 packet switched networks. Software for the machine comes on a single floppy disk, designed to enable the user to set the configuration bridge, router or both depending on the network requirements. The router capability features Internet Protocol and DECnet packet filtering and the user can also decide whether to route IP packets, DECnet or both. As a bridge the IN2010 features automatic address learning, the IEEE 802.1 Spanning Tree Algorithm, protocol prededence and packet filtering. The new bridge-router costs UKP4,000.
