BRITISH GAS BUYS UKP1.6m OF VIDECOM DISPLAYS TO AID ICL-TO-IBM MIGRATION

By CBR Staff Writer

British Gas North Thames has awarded a UKP1.6m order with the Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire-based company, Videcom Ltd. British Gas has been conducting a strategic review of its systems during the past two years, and it is in the process of migrating from ICL to IBM equipment. However, during the transistion period, it needs to keep using the ICL kit and requires some form of dual access. More than 1,000 Videcom 9000 Series controllers and terminals are to be installed over the coming year in 12 locations to aid the migration process from ICL to IBM, and British Gas is planning to extend its system to include DEC-based office automation.
