During British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s recent visit to Israel, he announced that active consideration will be given to setting up an Anglo-Israeli research and development fund. The BIRD fund for mutual investments by the US and Israel has been running successfully for a while and the new venture would be similar. Blair suggested that trade could be doubled between the two countries within a decade and suggested that it would be useful for the two countries to reach agreements on R&D in industry and defense.
