Microsoft Corp is expected to wrap up its defense case in the Bristol Technology Inc antitrust trial next Wednesday which means, following rebuttals and summing up, that the case could go to the jury on July 14. Under cross examination on Wednesday, Microsoft witness Dr Richard Rapp, president of the National Economic Research Association (NERA), admitted Microsoft has spent $6m with it in the last couple of years. Microsoft is also using NERA studies in its defense against the Department of Justice’s antitrust case, in which NERA’s Richard Schmalensee was Microsoft’s chief economic witness. Today Bob Kruger – Microsoft’s former Wise program manager, now with BMC Software – and Takeshi Namoto take the stand.
