Cray is increasing Bristol’s standing as a hotbed for tech by basing its EMEA Research Lab in the city.

The supercomputing company will base the Research Lab out of its EMEA headquarters in Bristol and will focus on creating partnerships with supercomputing centres.

As part of the program it is likely that the company will be looking to build relationships and sales in the High Performance Computing market.

The lab aims to help foster existing and new relationships with customers on projects such as special research and development initiatives.

It will become Cray’s main interface into European development programs, such as Horizon 2020 and the FET Flagship initiatives.

The company is working with the Jülich Supercomputing Center in Germany, in order to deliver a pilot supercomputing system for the Human Brain Project.

It is also working with organisations such as the University of Edinburgh, the Alan Turing Institute in London and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre.
