Anti-spam pioneer Bright Light Technologies Inc has announced the availability of Bright Mail for end users. Until now, the service has only been available through corporations or internet service providers. Now consumers who want to eliminate unsolicited commercial email can do so for free without having to maintain filtering rules of their own. Maybe the company was having trouble pushing its service into the enterprise market, because it’s hoping that end users will create demand. In what has become an internet tradition, explained CEO Sunil Paul, we hope that satisfied users of free Bright Mail will encourage their ISPs and employers to implement commercial versions of the service. The company believes it can eliminate up to 90% of spam without mistakenly classifying legitimate email.
