Digital Equipment Corp has an $8.1m systems integration contract with NEC Corp to build a weather forecasting and climatic data processing centre for the National Space Research Institute in Brazil, using a NEC SX3-Model 12R supercomputer with 67 DEC Alpha AXP computers to act as handmaidens to the giant.
