Brazil has brought forward opening up of its large but largely closed computer market, lifting the ban on imports of all computers and computer products apart from personal computers and low-end peripherals. The import bar on these will be lifted in October 1992. Foreign companies will be able to hold up to 49% of Brazilian companies, up from 34%. Import duties will be cut and technology transfer eased.
