Both iPhone 6 versions and new iPads will get Apple fingerprint sensors

Apple goes full steam ahead with Touch ID.

By Ben Sullivan

Apple is set to put Touch ID, its iPhone 5s biometric sensor, into every new iPhone and iPad launched this year.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the sensor will be included in the iPhone 6, the second-generation iPad Air and the forthcoming iPad Mini with retina display.

AppleInsider obtained the research note, which says that Apple will also replace the chemicals used in the Touch ID component to improve durability.

Last month, a code found in iOS 7.1 alluded to an iPad version of Touch ID.

Analyst shipment predictions see the number of Touch ID module shipments rise from 26 million in 2013 to 120 million in 2014 and 233 million in 2015.
