Point about the pricing on Microsoft Corp’s Access database product is of course that while the come-on price of $100 until January was expected, the company has said it would then put it up to $700, and has now decided to buy market share by going for a $500 price: Borland International Inc president Philippe Kahn said his company is ready to fight a price war and do what ever it takes to maintain its leadership in the database market – but its Windows version of Paradox will not be out until late December or January, while dBase for Windows will be sometime in the first half.
