Scotts Valley, California-based Borland International Inc’s ObjectWindows for AppWare, scheduled for pre-release this month, is designed to enable Windows developers to move their applications to OS/2, Macintosh System and Unix. ObjectWindows is a set of class libraries for developing applications in C++; Novell Inc’s AppWare Foundation is a set of C libraries that provides developers with cross-system functionality across multiple operating systems, graphical interfaces and network services. ObjectWindows for AppWare is based on ObjectWindows 2.0 and Borland describes it as a low volume-high cost product. Both Novell Inc and Borland will sell Object Windows for AppWare, Novell at $600 a system; Borland has not set a price and says it is likely to vary from system to system.
